WRAM Online delivered on time, under budget
MoD accepts delivery for immediate use on Apache Attack Helicopter
Yeovil, Somerset UK – February 20, 2006 – Miro Technologies announced today an
on-time and under budget delivery of its new WRAM™ Online system to the UK Ministry of Defence
(MoD). Miro’s JAVA-based Work Recording & Asset Management was accepted by the MoD for
immediate use on the Apache Attack Helicopter fleet only ten months from contract award. The new
generation application will provide users, who currently manage nearly 600 military Rotary Wing
aircraft for the Royal Navy and Army (and soon the RAF as well) with the existing WRAM application,
a totally new GUI that promises improved user productivity, reduced training and closer integration
with OEMs in Depth maintenance areas.
"Once MoD had taken up our original proposal for design, development and testing, operational
constraints caused a significant cut in delivery timescale,” said John Hancock, Head of Miro's
UK operations based in Yeovil. “We achieved this aggressive schedule by working closely with
the MoD on each milestone, and through the efforts and dedication of our development team."
“The WRAM Online application has been successfully developed as a collaborative project
between the MoD and Miro Technologies during the past 10 months. The successful delivery of WRAM
Online to time and cost has been a truly remarkable achievement against demanding timescales and has
enabled the convergence of all Army and Navy Engineering & Asset Management activity onto a single,
fully deployable system,” said Cdr. Terry O’Reilly, Team Leader of Data Services Rotary
Wing which operates within the Defence Logistics Organization (DLO), a tri-service unit that
integrates Britain's Army, Navy and Air Force logistics support.
What is WRAM Online?
WRAM Online system is really three systems in one: a management information system, a logistics tools
and a unit maintenance management tool. As a management information system, WRAM provides Integrated
Project Teams (IPTs) with visibility of all tracked assets; time to overhaul, failure trends, status,
geographical and assembly location, demand and supply profiles and asset histories. As a logistics tool,
WRAM Online allows IPTs to monitor the effectiveness of equipment in-service support and maintenance
policies, equipment performance and life cycle costing. It provides essential data to feed OEMs in-service
support systems and enable them to deliver support in the depth area. As a unit maintenance management tool,
it provides airworthiness decision support and a paperless working environment in addition to the major
benefit of delivering consistent procedures for its users irrespective of unit or location.
The configuration management and asset status board allows the commander to know the location,
serviceability and primary role configuration of all his aircraft. WRAM Online enables the technician to
see life limiting components with time before removal, receive and send information, the modification
standard of components fitted and acceptable alternative he can install.
Miro Technologies has future plans to further improve WRAM Online to include Fatigue Indexing, an interface
to HUMS, electronic sign-off, linking to maintenance manuals and support for the new RFID initiative.
